A monkey living in the Indian city of Errode got famous on Facebook after caring for a dog. On social media, an internet user posted photographs of animals. The monkey’s protection enveloped the puppy completely.
The monkey never loses grip of the puppy, hopping from branch to limb. She also tries to feed the baby by giving him fruit, such as grapes. When passers-by brought the couple a bowl of milk, she let the dog eat first.
‘People who see them regularly claim that their devotion is mutual,’ said one of the passers-by who watched the monkey and dog. He also suspected the monkey had misplaced hers, which she associated with the puppy.
These monkeys are the most common primates on the earth; they may be found in Pakistan, India, South China, and the Indochina countries, and they populate cities in large numbers.
The Indians regard them as sacred creatures. Females have a 165-day pregnancy and bear one cub, which the mother raises for and defends for up to a year.
