She had no idea that thirty-one years later, when she got this cat in 1990, she would be celebrating his birthday.

Meet Rubba, the ‘oldest cat in the world!’ Rubba, a 31-year-old British kitten, is a stunning creature. When Michaela, his owner, was spotted on the side of the road in May 1990, she was given a ginger-and-white cat as a birthday present.

Without a question, it was one of the most considerate gifts she’d ever received. Michaela reports the cat is very devoted and dedicated, and she has enjoyed a beautiful bond with him for many years.

She claims that he enjoyed a long life because he was cherished and treated “like a child.” The cat appears to be in good health. Her own veterinarian keeps an eye on her to make sure she’s in good condition.

She also doesn’t want too much disturbance surrounding Rubba, so she intends to let him live out his days. And we think this is an admirable response from a lady who actually cares for her pet and isn’t looking for money or fame at his expense.

What a lovely friendship the two have. Hopefully, the kitten will live happily for many more years.
