A zoo has welcomed six newborn squirrel monkeys. The announcement has expanded the number of residents for these endangered monkeys, which has zookeepers delighted.
The zoo currently boasts a total of 24 monkeys of the same species with the birth of these six monkeys. The zookeeper described how these young monkeys will spend the next 14 days in close proximity to their mother.
They will cling to their moms for the next week or two like little knapsacks, providing for an amusing sight as their mothers jump around their show. Most likely, the monkeys will dwell in hot, natural settings.
They are among the world’s smallest primates. In 2021, this species of monkey was declared strictly endangered. The environment was largely to blame for this. There is another key factor that contributes to the species’ vulnerability in addition to the capture for the pet exchange.
