In 1974, scientists removed a little monkey from the zoo. The chimpanzee was raised as a member of the family after being adopted. Before it was known that a study was being conducted to attempt to turn a chimpanzee into a human, years had passed. Steph discovered a chimpanzee named Nima.
A professor chose the research. He reasoned that the fact that the monkey couldn’t talk was a given. However, he thought that teaching her words in sign language would allow them to freely converse.
Nima was initially taught by Steph how to eat with a spoon from a plate and use the restroom.
A year later, the chimpanzee began doing the dishes and keeping things organized in his room. 125 moves were taught to Nima after 4 years of diligent study.
His gesture repertoire suddenly dropped to 25 after the learning process was terminated.
Additionally, because they were unable to change the monkey into a man, they decided to stop the study in 1977 following the final exam.
Scientists claim that it was impossible to introduce a monkey as a representative of another species in the first place.
