After Hoying, Grassi, and Maldonado, three singing classmates from Texas high school, decided to try out for “The Sing-Off,” they founded Pentatonix (also known as PTX) in 2011. They later hired Kaplan and discovered Olusola through his YouTube beatboxing recordings.
