The amazing musician Herbie Russ had an incredibly impressive audition on America’s Got Talent. Herbie selected a vintage Joe Cocker song that sounded a lot like his voice after reaching the Judge Cuts stage. With a saxophone performance, the 54-year-old’s performance of “With A Little Help From My Friends” took center stage!
As a musician, Herbie’s struggles have left him with a lot of personality. In sixth grade, a promising career as a saxophone musician came to an abrupt halt. Herbie was almost unable to play because of a hand injury. He would have to recover for years before he could play the saxophone once more.
Homelessness was part of a downward spiral brought on by drug abuse. He was expelled from the house all those years ago for using narcotics, after all. Herbie has been a traveling musician ever since, performing at odd shows to support his addictions and way of life.

This artist came to the realization that he was meant for something more than combat. “After years of wandering… he finally turned to God and said, ‘You’ve given me this skill; I need some direction,’” is how Herbie describes the pivotal moment on his website. He became a committed artist after that day and frequently helped out at homeless shelters.
Herbie Russ had a Joe Cocker-like voice when he sang the song “With A Little Help From My Friends.” Simon Cowell was quick to offer some wise counsel, stressing the value of taking a chance. However, the majority believe that his striking likeness was a chance occurrence that he exploited.
