My mother-in-law caused a real scandal on my birthday because of my husband’s expensive gift: I had to put her in her place

I had to correct my mother-in-law after she raised a major commotion on my birthday due to my husband’s costly present.

My birthday was yesterday. My parents, friends, his parents, and his sister and her husband were among the people my husband and I invited. It was a light and happy evening, with music, chatter, and laughter filling the home. Everything appeared to be ideal.

I was as thrilled as a kid when it came time for presents. The initial gifts were thoughtful and enjoyable. My parents gave me a money envelope and said I could use it to realize any dreams I had. My mother-in-law, who is always sensible, gave me a towel, and my husband’s sister gave me makeup.

Then came the time when my husband gave me a little package. I gasped as I opened it. A diamond set in a gold ring. It was just the one I had been dreaming about for years.

– “However, this is really costly.” I muttered.

My spouse grinned and said, “You can handle anything.”

Happier than ever, I gave him a hug and a kiss. However, the celebration abruptly turned at that same time.

— “So you buy your wife such pricey presents, and we don’t have food at home?” My mother-in-law lost her temper.

The ring is something I’ve been saving for a long time, Mom. Don’t worry, the money is there,” my spouse said coolly.

She said, “Your sister is remodeling her home; you ought to have assisted her rather than squandering money on pointless things.”

— “But it’s my birthday today!” I was unable to contain myself any longer.

— “And he has never given anything to his own mother!” — yelled my mother-in-law.

She kept ranting at me and my husband, accusing us of being ungrateful and shameless. No one dared to interrupt as the guests froze in disbelief.

And I finally had enough and did something that caused my mother-in-law to greatly regret what she had done.

I removed the ring from my finger and hurled it directly at her face with all of my strength.

“Choke on it!” “I said.” — “Having a devoted husband at my side is the most significant thing. And if you’re so envious, it’s obvious that you’ve never experienced true love or been given presents by your spouse. The money isn’t the point; you’re just a jealous, bitter woman.

The room fell into a deafening quiet. Red with rage, my mother-in-law got up and walked out, slamming the door behind her.

My smile gradually disappeared as I took a seat at the table again. Anger and pain were mingling inside me. The gift’s excitement was gone. I’m now wondering if I went too far. Perhaps I shouldn’t have lowered myself to her level.
