“Dad, Mom is screaming behind the door — is she hurt?” the six-year-old texted while his father was away on a business trip. The father told him to hold the phone near the door, and moments later he was calling the police 😨😱
The husband had left on an early flight, his son gripping his hand at the airport.
“Will you be back soon?” the boy asked.
“In three days,” the father replied, kneeling down. “You’re the man of the house now. Take care of Mom.”
The first two days passed peacefully. Evening calls were filled with stories about cartoons and Grandma’s pies. The wife reassured him everything was fine.
On the third night, exhausted after meetings, the husband was about to text home when a message from his son appeared:
“Dad, Mom is screaming behind the door. Is she hurt? What should I do?”
His heart dropped. He called immediately.
“I’m in the hallway,” the boy whispered. “Her door is locked. She won’t answer.”
Then, through the phone, the father heard it — a strained scream, and beneath it, a low male voice speaking harshly. Not the sound of a simple argument.
Fighting to stay calm, he instructed his son to hold the phone close to the door but stay out of sight. As soon as he understood what was happening inside, he dialed emergency services.
“Go to your room, lock the door, and stay quiet,” he told his son. “I’m helping Mom.”
Police arrived quickly. A man inside the apartment was detained, and the wife was rescued.
Later it was revealed that the man was her lover, and their argument had turned violent. That night, it was the little boy’s message that saved her life.
