When Sheyi Omatayo walked onto The X Factor UK stage in 2012, he arrived full of confidence, personality, and big dreams. Working at Nando’s at the time, Sheyi hoped his audition would be his ticket to fame. But what happened next was certainly not what the judges expected! 😲
For his first song, Sheyi chose Louis Armstrong’s timeless classic What a Wonderful World. However, instead of delivering a traditional rendition, he sang in an unusually deep, raspy voice that immediately caught everyone off guard.

Nicole Scherzinger appreciated his personality, while Tulisa couldn’t resist commenting on his surprising transformation when he started singing. Gary, however, was far less impressed with the vocals. Despite the mixed reactions, Sheyi kept his sense of humor and continued to entertain the room. 👏
Unfortunately, his unique performance wasn’t enough to win the judges over, and he didn’t make it through to the next round. But even without advancing in the competition, Sheyi certainly made his audition memorable.
