Shy 15-Year-Old Boy Starts Singing Michael Jackson — And the Judges Can’t Believe His Voice!

When 15-year-old Joel Goncalves stepped onto The X Factor Australia stage in 2012, he looked like an ordinary, nervous teenager. But nobody was prepared for the incredible voice hiding behind his shy smile!

The young singer from Brisbane admitted that he had never performed in front of more than about 20 people. Now, he was facing a massive audience and four celebrity judges.

For his audition, Joel chose Michael Jackson’s classic hit “The Girl Is Mine” — a challenging song for even experienced performers.

But the moment he started singing, everything changed!

His smooth, soulful voice immediately captured the audience’s attention. The nervous teenager suddenly transformed into a confident performer, delivering a beautiful rendition that reminded many listeners of a young Michael Jackson.

The judges were amazed!

Ronan Keating admitted he hadn’t expected such a beautiful voice from someone who appeared so nervous. Mel B was equally impressed by Joel’s charm, while Guy Sebastian praised him as exactly the kind of talent the competition needed.

By the end of his performance, the audience was cheering, and Joel received four YES votes from the judges!

But his story didn’t end there.

Years later, Joel began performing under the name Joel Adams and released his hit single “Please Don’t Go,” proving that his teenage audition was just the beginning of his musical journey.

Watch the unforgettable audition and discover why this shy teenager left everyone amazed!
