The grandmother elephant has reunited with her granddaughters after a lengthy separation.
Male elephants typically go in pursuit of a partner in the wild, but female elephants always stay with their family for the rest of their lives. The goal of this planned reunion is to construct a program for caged animals, recreate a natural setting, and give everyone a chance to see one other again. The elephants’ visits have been stopped at the zoo so that they may rest and be closer to one another.
‘This elephant’s presence in Halle is a significant step forward for elephant husbandry in the future.’ This is how all elephants should be cared for, in a regular family structure. This is our key goal for the day!’
