Queen Elizabeth spent the summer with her family and posed for photos with some of her grandkids and great-grandchildren before passing away in September 2022.
In a recent image shared on April 21 by Kensington Palace, Queen Elizabeth can be seen relaxing on a sofa at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeen, Scotland, with 10 of her younger children, including Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4. The Palace also disclosed that their mother, Kate Middleton, took the endearing photo.
The image also includes James, Earl of Wessex, 15, and Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, 19, both of whom are standing in the rear and are Prince Edward’s children (and the Queen’s grandchildren). The picture also includes Peter Phillips’ two kids, Savannah, 12, and Isla, 11, as well as Zara Tindall’s children, Mia, 9, Lena, 4, and Lucas, 2. Princess Anne, the daughter of the Queen, is the mother of both Zara and Peter.
King Charles, Prince Andrew, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward are the four children that Elizabeth and her late husband, Prince Philip, had together. They also gave them eight grandchildren. The queen now has 12 great-grandchildren. The Queen’s first great-grandchild to be born after her dying last autumn is believed to be Princess Eugenie, one of Elizabeth’s grandkids, who is now expecting.
Notably absent from the image from last summer are Archie, 3, and Lilibet, who will turn 2 this June, the children of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Her great-grandmother, with whom Harry has a strong relationship, is named after Lilibet. Archie and Lilibet were given the titles of prince and princess as the monarch’s grandchildren upon the death of Elizabeth II and the accession of then-Prince Charles to the throne, however it is unclear how the children, who now reside in the US, would utilize them.
The only Prince who intends to attend his father’s coronation in May is Prince Harry. When Harry and Markle brought Archie and Lilibet to the UK for the Platinum Jubilee in June 2022, it is likely that the Queen was able to see them before she passed away. This was verified by Harry after the Queen’s death in September.
